Principal’s News April 29, 2008 Dear Parents. Hopefully, parents in grades 4-8 have logged on to Option C and have been checking their child’s grades periodically. Since these grades are available daily, interim reports will only be filled out for those students in grades 4 – 8 who are deficient for the quarter. These deficient interim reports in grades 4-8 will be mailed. Interim reports for grades K – 3 will be sent home with all children as usual. I want to give you an update on a few uniform and rule changes that will be in effect for next year. The discipline committee has been hard at work revising the student handbook. First, regarding the school uniform, our school plaid will remain. For clarification, our plaid is blue and gold (not navy and gold.) We have noticed some different plaids floating around probably because of this confusion. We will be phasing out the solid navy blue skirts. The students may continue to wear the solid blue skirts until they do not fit anymore but please do not buy new ones. In addition, we will no longer allow students to wear pajama pants/sweat pants under the uniform skirts/jumpers. The little children have difficulty taking these pants off with their shoes and it has become a problem. Instead, you will have the opportunity to buy a very nice legging from our spiritwear company. These may be worn under the uniform skirt or jumper all day long. We are also going to allow students to wear skorts. Mrs. Luken has been very busy talking to the company that will make our spiritwear next year and has some samples hanging in the front lobby if you would like to see them. As far as any rule changes, up to this point, parents have been permitted to pick their children up after announcements without it counting as a tardy. For the 2008-09 school year, this will no longer be permitted. This year we have more and more parents coming up to do this and it is getting out of hand having to call these students to the office. Next year, if you need your child before your child is dismissed by his/her teacher, this will count as a tardy. I am astounded that May is right around the corner. We are beginning to plan for graduation! This year is zooming by and I can’t believe it is almost over! Sincerely, Sharon Willmes
